Impatient media and fans had been waiting for Mariah Carey to get pregnant for so long that this news ought to give them double the joy!
It has been officially announced that the 40-year-old mom-to-be Carey and her husband Nick Cannon are expecting twins! Cannon, 30, shared the good news on his 92.3 NOW morning show Rollin' With Nick Cannon, by telling listeners, "We are having twins."
Of course, the information won't come as a surprise to some as the excited expectant parents let the cat(s) out of the bag earlier in the week.
E! Online reported on Wednesday that both Carey and Cannon both accidentally referred to their bundle of joy as "they."
In fact, Carey couldn't keep the "they" news to herself from two very important people in particular: President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama!
Cannon revealed on his show that his pop star wife ran into the Obamas while performing at the Christmas in Washington 2010 special on Sunday. He claims the Obamas, "Questioned my wife about, you know, 'So, what are you having, are you having twins?"
He went on to tell fans, "At this point she hadn't told anybody anything because doctors advised us to keep it to ourselves until we get further along. And because of the excitement, because of the emotion, she was overwhelmed [and] she shared with the President and First Lady that we are having twins."
While the pair have now shared this exciting news with the rest of the world, Carey and Cannon, who sadly suffered a miscarriage in 2008, have opted to keep the due date private for the time being.
